A souvenir from MIYC, mannam international participated in.

You know I had been to MIYC.
There was a souvenir to finishers like this.

From Busan to Seoul Grand Park (located in Gwa-cheon) takes over 5 hours by bus.
We had left for Seoul early in the morning, but there's very short free-time at there.
After the 10K race, I couldn't have this souvenir.
 

So I decided to make it. I'll get the badge!!!

 


You know this guy? I'm afraid of his fan, erase his name by cotton. Luckily he cover his eye.

I'll show you the finished work next time :D


I wanted to say...
Riding a long time, don't have enough time to walk...
So, that day means nothing?
Walking is a main event of that day, but just Walk is not the main thing.

Actually, you can't make peaceful world right the time by walking 10k.
And you can't remove war from the world, also.
Our walking can't make world in peace,
but we can change the neighbors mind to change the world.

As I wear this badge, ppl will ask what this is.
Each time I have that question, I have a chance to describe 10K walking in their shoes.
And they have a chance to think about world peace.
So, I'm making this badge about MIYC 10K.

It reminds me the time when I were in Seoul.
I felt I am just a tiny one in a huge city.
People don't know each others. I felt I was forgotten to ppl.
I came to think of my friends who have met through MANNAM.
I wish they feel warm, brotherhood above the nations.
I don't want they think they are strangers in Korea, and want they feel themselves precious.

Peace is not difficult thought by walking 10k

On sunday, mannam particitpate the 10km walking hosted  by MIYC.
Walking 10km, think the ppl who suffered nature disaster.

The idea, thinking other ppl as we walk, is awesome.
In our lives, how much time do we spend to think other ppl?
Walking is most common things in our everyday life.
Walking to embrace the world through 10km was very meaningful.
After peacewalk i think about the victims of natural disater every time i walk.

When do you have a very very delicious food, who do you want to come and eat together?
The one, who come up in your mind, would be your most precious person to you.
My friend, Chloe Kim (She is a competent photographer of MANNAM) send me this picture, and commented "Let's go and eat this, no matter what."
I am so happy to hear that she thought of me when she saw this picture.

MANNAM volunteer work, Free gugak concert #2, Jagalcji Arirang

With Mom, I went to a gugak concert. Thanks to MANNAM, it was free of charge.
There were so many people who interested in Korean traditional music.
It was great performance. I enjoyed it. :D

MANNAM Korean Class workshop

MANNAM Korean class workshop was at seomyeon Mannam office.

I have attended there and have heard how effective the lecture were.

And I got several tips for teaching.

 

Eun Jeong. Seo, vice-director of MANNAM Busan North, emphasize "love"

She said it's as important as knowledge of Korean.

 

If you were a stranger, we would feel lonely and frightend of strange environment.

Then what would you want?

You want SB to have a chat, share your feelings or just be next to you.

If you study hard at MANNAM Korean Class, you will get Korean certificate also.

But the most strong point of MANNAM Korean Class is love, just as Eun Jeong. Seo. said.

Though she is not married yet, she acts like a aunt to close to students, study Korean.

And it's for free!

They may be angels from heaven.

While seeing these cards, I remember Man Hee Lee, the honorary president of MANNAM said.

Let's do good thing like light, rain and air. They give all for nothing and make people live.

I were the first and only guest at that time. Can you see the sun-shine stream into this hall deeply? :)

A few years ago, quite a lot of applicants dreamed of running a cafe, at that time.
So did I. not anxious for that.
I Had unaccountable fear to work, wanted to live calm and restful.
Running a coffee shop was romantic to me then.
So, in those days, I searched all over coffee shops for props, lamp, table, music, how they finished the wall...etc.
But now, If I went to a good restaurant, I'm not lonely and I have no time to look around.
I think about the people in MANNAM always.
White cream sphagetti Jinie likes, Sparkling wine Jieun drinks when she first came to MANNAM,
Perfect place for party with MANNAM, ...

I never thought I would do volunteer work before.
I was selfish enough to think of only myself.
But now, Thanks to MANNAM, I have a lot of people in my mind.

MANNAM welcome all religion.

I like Jjimjilban style egg like this. I don't like boiled egg.

I've got this from my co-worker who believe in God.
He's a Christian. It's a celebration for Resurrection.

Eating eggs, I came to wonder other religions' celebration day.
On the day, Where they go, What they do, How they celebrate, ..etc.
I want to know that.

MANNAM have a lot of people who came from diverse country, have a very tolerant attitude towards other religions.
I have friends Christians, Buddhists and Muslims... etc.
We're learning to understand people of different faiths.

Next time, I see Atif, I'll ask him about Islam.
I want to know not by writing, but what he know.

Cheongsa chorong, the same color of MANNAM symbol!

On the way from work, I met this lovely scenery.

This is Cheongsa-chorong.
Cheongsa means blue thread and chorong means candle light and basket.
It was used by the king's eldest grandson in the late of Chosun kingdom.
People used it on wedding ceremony, Cheongsa-chorong means wedding.
The red represents yang and the blue represents yin.

Korean have believed that the harmony of yin and yang, which is the origin of the whole creation.

And they want to follow the laws of nature, set the cheongsa-chorong in wedding made blue and red.

 

The color of MANNAM symbol is blue and red, too!

 

The original symbol is right one. :)

Wedding is meeting of yin and yang. MANNAM means meeing in korean.

I realized it's very brilliant idea to compose this symbol with blue and red, only after seeing what the meaning of Cheongsa-chorong.

Besides, the center of the MANNAM logo is figure of handshake.

We can shake hands when we meet!

I like the vision of MANNAM.

 

MANNAM is the common ground on which all people of the world, irrespective of their
differences, can unite and work towards the goal of the world peace and a culture of
respect and tolerance through true volunteerism.

Not only written words, but also doing real thing!

There are so many culture classes, include korean class, for foreigners from all over the world, it's not for certain ethnic groups.

I wish the more people joined this fabulous organization, and made the world more peaceful!

Free Gugak concert ticket from MANNAM

Lately, I got free-ticket from MANNAM for korean traditional music concert titled Heritage of Korea held in National Gugak(Korean traditional music) Center.
It's for foreigners to learn about Korea.

While seeing that, I wonder how they can play that song.
The presenter introduced korean music set ppl at ease, but i couldnt.

On the contrary i was nervous a little bit.
Cuz that song was off-beat. Well, it's totally different from the west.
They kept step with others' playing.
So I made errors in judging when exactly instruments sing. 
I couldn't assess whether they playing right traditional rhythm cuz I'm a outsider to gugak.

There's  so many space in note, and it make ppl tense with its space.

 

Anyway, the very impressive of the concert was Cheoyongmu (Dance of Cheoyong).

This is what Cheoyongga is about.

The wife of Cheoyong was so beautiful. So, a devil wanted to possess her.

And the devil did during Cheoyong's absence.

 

Wait.

What do you think he'll do when he finds out?

 

Cheoyong did a dance and sang a song.

The devil was so touched for what Cheoyong did.

And the devil made a promise he'll not harm ppl wherever Cheoyong's portrait is.

 

Our ancestors knew that the battle is not always to strong.

Similar to that, Gandhi carried out a movement of nonviolent resistance against British rule.

 

I wish my country be in a peace by a revolutionary idea from this confrontation with North Korea.

With the vice-director of MANNAM Korean Speech Contest

Today, I met Jinie, the vice-director of Korean Speech Contest, hosted by MANNAM Busan North.
We together go around Nampo to promote the contest for 2 hours.
After the promotion, I touched her hair by chance. Her hair was wet.
"When did you shampoo your hair? your hair is still wet!"
She said,
"It was a tough day for many reasons. I was much streamed with perspiration. "

The yellow dust was really bad today.
Among this massive yellow dust, I realized again the importance of clean environment.

Man Hee Lee, the honorary president of MANNAM speaks this a lot.
Let's do good thing like light, rain and air. They give all for nothing and make people live.

When we are in nature, we feel comfortable and relaxed.
Like that, if there is one who share what he or she has for other people like light, rain, and air,
many people may want to be with that person.

Despite her being sick, we talked for hours about many things.
I knew then that giving life to a person was having a deep connection.
Last year at the World Peace Festival, the chairman Man Hee Lee said, "When I share my thoughts to the person next to me, that person will listen and our hearts will become one. And when that person passes it on to a different person...
this is how peace will be achieved when all our hearts become one.
And today, I could feel what this was in my heart.

Light MANNAM up for your happiness.

I watched a movie, BERLIN.

I picked that movie easily cuz the leading actor is Ha Jeong Woo and Han Seok Kyu, well known for their acting.

After seeing that movie, I became eager for all the individual's happiness in their numerous situations.

But the happiness of individual is not achievement of someone else's. 

We should speak out for our own happiness and shine light ourselves.

And this is MANNAM's slogan, "When  Light  meets  Light  there  is  Victory."

A person is very weak but the group of each person can do much things.  

It's like a candle can't shine huge room, but so many candles can make a night as a day! 

I hope the peaceful world of each weak person by MANNAM(It's Korean word. It means "meeting") of each person.
